Halloween weekend in Stratford starts with fireworks at Riverside on Friday 30 October and ends with Stratford Rugby Club’s bonfire on Sunday 1 November, with costume parties, a ghost walk and the last pumpkin picking days on Halloween itself, Saturday 31 October. The good news for the fireworks: Thursday’s forecast is dry all weekend.

Friday 30 October: fireworks at Riverside

The Riverside venue on Tiddington Road holds its Halloween fireworks display on Friday evening, followed by live music from a Robbie Williams tribute act and the band Hot2Trot (Riverside’s events page). Further afield, The Warwickshire at Leek Wootton has a fireworks night the same evening, with advance tickets only. Both are in our Bonfire Night guide.

Saturday 31 October: Halloween night

  • Costume parties: Riverside has a kids’ fancy dress disco from 3pm to 6pm and an adults’ disco from 7.30pm; The Coach House on Rother Street has a party from 7pm with a £50 best-costume prize.
  • Something scarier: the Stratford Ghost Walk leaves the Swan Fountain at 7.30pm (£12, £6 for ages 8–15), and the Bear Pit Theatre ends its community cinema week with John Carpenter’s Halloween at 7pm (£6).
  • Something calmer: Compton Verney opens its galleries from 6pm to 9.30pm for After Hours: Night Sonnets (£15, aimed at adults).
  • Last chance for pumpkins: Cobbs at Kings Lane, Lower Clopton Farm and Oversley Hill Farm near Alcester (free entry, 10am to 3pm) all close their pumpkin patches on Saturday. See our pumpkin picking guide.

Sunday 1 November: the rugby club bonfire

Stratford Rugby Club’s Bonfire and Fireworks Night is at its Pearcecroft ground on Loxley Road: gates open at 5pm, the bonfire is lit at 6pm and the fireworks start at 7pm. Early-bird tickets have closed, so check with the club before you go; our rugby club bonfire guide has the details. Ilmington’s bonfire at Mabels Farm is the same evening, and Riverside rounds off its Halloween week with a quiz from 6.30pm.

Getting there and getting home

  • The Park & Ride’s last bus back on Saturday is at about 6pm, so plan another way home after evening events. Live bus and train times are on Stratford Live.
  • Waterside is closed to traffic between Bridge Street and Sheep Street for the Upmarket on Sunday, 10am to 5pm.
  • Expect busy roads around Tiddington Road on Friday evening and Loxley Road on Sunday evening.
  • Pet owners: our fireworks and pets guide lists every display date nearby.

After the weekend, don’t bin your carved pumpkin with the rubbish: here’s how to recycle it in Stratford. For everything else on, including the Stratford Literary Festival at the Crowne Plaza, see what’s on in Stratford this weekend and our Halloween guide.
