Rapid and ultra-rapid charging

Maybird Shopping Park (CV37 0HZ)

Stratford’s biggest charging hub, with 10 ultra-rapid chargers of up to around 150kW. The hub was opened by Mer, and charging maps now list it under the Be.EV network. With ten bays a queue is less likely than at smaller sites, and the shops and cafés make it easy to fill 20–30 minutes.

A46 farm shop, Snitterfield (CV37 0QA)

InstaVolt runs 4 ultra-rapid chargers at the farm shop on King’s Lane, just off the A46. It’s handy if you’re coming in from Warwick or the M40, or heading out again.

Bannatyne Health Club, Alcester Road (CV37 9RJ)

InstaVolt’s 50kW rapid chargers on the west side of town. You don’t need to be a gym member, and you pay by contactless card with no app or subscription needed. There’s no connection fee, and InstaVolt advertises cheaper overnight rates for app users.

Shell / Little Waitrose, Bridgetown (CV37 7LP)

A Shell Recharge ultra-rapid charger at the Shell garage on Shipston Road. It’s the best option south of the river, and handy for the Rosebird Centre, the Butterfly Farm and Clopton Bridge.

Other rapid chargers

  • Morrisons, Alcester Road (CV37 9DA): a rapid charger (MFG EV Power), so you can charge while you shop.
  • Stratford Garden Centre, Clifford Chambers (CV37 8LW): 2 rapid chargers (Forward EV).

Charging in the town centre

Bridgeway Multi-Storey (CV37 6YX)

The council lists 2 electric vehicle bays on Level 1. It’s the best-placed car park for the RSC, the riverside and the town centre, and the first hour is free. Normal parking charges apply after that, including the flat £3.50 evening rate from 4pm. See our Stratford parking calculator for prices.

Chestnut Walk (CV37 6HG)

8 on-street chargers (Connected Kerb) a short walk from the town centre and Holy Trinity. They’re slow chargers, best for a long visit or an overnight top-up rather than a quick boost.

Council car parks: chargers are changing

In late 2025, Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick district councils appointed a new operator to install and run EV chargers in their car parks. The councils warned that the old chargers would be phased out first, and that there would probably be a gap before the new ones went in. Before you rely on a council car park for a charge, check its live status in an app such as Zapmap, and read the signs when you arrive.

The Park & Ride: free parking while you charge

The Stratford Park & Ride at Bishopton (satnav CV37 0RJ) has 4 charging points. Warwickshire County Council says vehicles park free while plugged in, so you only pay the bus fare into town (£2.50 adult return, or £4 for a group of up to five). Buses run about every 30 minutes, but only 9am–3pm on weekdays, and there’s no Sunday service from November to Easter. Stratford Parkway station is on the same site if you’re coming back later. Full details are on the county council’s Park & Ride page.

Staying overnight? Hotels with chargers

  • The Grosvenor Hotel, Warwick Road: a fast charger (ChargePoint)
  • Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club, Ingon Lane: 2 fast chargers (SYNC EV)
  • Crowne Plaza, Bridgeway: a slow charger (BP Pulse)

Check with your hotel whether chargers are for guests only and need booking. Browse more places to stay in our where to stay guide.
