Warwickshire County Council wants to know which services matter most and where it could save money or raise income in 2027/28. The survey closes on Sunday 1 November.

People in Stratford-upon-Avon have until Sunday 1 November to take part in Warwickshire County Council’s budget consultation for 2027/28. The online survey asks which county services matter most to you, where the council could save money or work differently, and how it could raise more income, including through council tax.

The county council runs many of the services Stratford residents use every day: roads and pavements, schools and school transport, adult and children’s social care, support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), libraries, including Stratford-upon-Avon Library on Henley Street, and the household recycling centres. Its share is the largest part of a Stratford council tax bill, which the district council collects on its behalf.

Why the council is asking

The council says it faces serious financial pressure from rising costs and growing demand, especially in education, social care and SEND, and that it will have to make difficult decisions. It also says the timing of local government reorganisation in Warwickshire is now uncertain, after the government announced a review of the programme, so it is planning for 2027/28 as things stand.

The survey won’t set the budget. Councillors make the final decisions, and the council says a summary of the responses will be used alongside other evidence when it draws up its proposals. All responses are confidential.

How to have your say

  • Online: the survey is on the council’s Ask Warwickshire consultation page. Anyone who lives, works or studies in the county can respond.
  • Paper copy or another format: call 01926 410410.
  • Closing date: Sunday 1 November 2026. The consultation opened on 5 October.
  • Background reading: the council’s medium-term financial strategy report, which went to its Cabinet on 16 July.

What happens next

All county councillors meet on Thursday 4 February 2027 to agree the final budget and the county’s council tax for 2027/28. Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Warwickshire’s police and crime commissioner and the town and parish councils set their own parts of the bill separately. More council news is on our council page.

The consultation was also reported by the Stratford Herald.
