Pubs and bars with alcohol-free drinks

The Dirty Duck (The Black Swan), Waterside

The actors’ pub opposite the theatres serves Guinness 0.0, alongside alcohol-free beer, 0% wine, alcohol-free gin, alcohol-free cocktails and no- and low-alcohol pints, according to its alcohol-free drinks page. A good one for a fireside pint without the hangover.

RSC Rooftop Restaurant and cocktail bar

The bar at the top of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre says its menu covers “alcoholic and non alcoholic favourites”, with views over the river. See the cocktail bar menu.

The Lounge at The Stratford hotel

The Lounge’s January drinks list had a dedicated non-alcoholic cocktails section: a Boozeless Bramble, the NAH-Groni (an alcohol-free take on a Negroni) and the minty Crystal Clarity, plus Peroni Zero and Guinness Zero. See The Stratford’s website for the current menu.

Cocktail and wine bars

Most bars now have alcohol-free options, and many bartenders will make you something to order if you ask. Our guide to Stratford’s bars lists every cocktail and wine bar in town with opening hours.

Nights out that aren’t about drinking

  • The theatre: the RSC has Middlemarch running into mid-January. For everything else on, see the events calendar.
  • The cinema: the Everyman at Bell Court, off Wood Street, has four screens and also shows National Theatre Live and ballet and opera screenings.
  • A winter walk: our winter walks guide has four routes, from the riverside to the Welcombe Hills.
  • Somewhere to eat: find cafés and restaurants on our eat and drink map, or plan a date night.

Driving or getting home
