After Hours at Compton Verney
On Halloween night, Compton Verney’s galleries and grounds stay open late, from 6pm to 9.30pm, for an evening of art, performance and “suitably strange goings-on”. You can see Raqib Shaw’s Night Sonnets exhibition after dark and hear the artist in conversation with curator Oli McCall, followed by live music and hands-on creative workshops. It’s designed mainly for adults. Tickets are £15, including the galleries, with stone-baked pizza and mulled wine on sale. Book on Compton Verney’s website.
Magic Alley: Nightmare on Greenhill Street, After Dark
After nightfall, Magic Alley’s Halloween experience at 38 Greenhill Street becomes a darker, more theatrical version with costumed performers, strictly for over-18s. Each After Dark ticket includes a Halloween cocktail or alcohol-free mocktail. The slots around Halloween weekend sell out first: see Magic Alley’s Halloween page.
Sweeney Todd at the Attic Theatre
The Attic Theatre’s Sweeney Todd and the String of Pearls, the tale of the demon barber of Fleet Street, runs from 16 October to 7 November, with tickets from £18.50. It’s an intimate theatre, so book on the Attic Theatre’s website.
