Welcome to New in Stratford, our weekly round-up of business openings, closures, licence applications and shop plans in Stratford-upon-Avon, from the council’s licensing and planning records and the Food Standards Agency register. This week: a homeware shop on the way in Old Red Lion Court, a new café in our directory, new signs planned for a listed shop on Henley Street, and changes on the food register.
Opening soon
Anse Coco, Old Red Lion Court: an independent shop selling homewares, fragrance, textiles, books and jewellery from small brands is due to open next month in the former Jacqueline Louise Bridal shop, which is being refurbished. It will be a near neighbour of The Broken Binding bookshop, which opened in Red Lion Court on 10 October. First reported by the Stratford Herald; we’ll add the opening date when the shop announces it.
Shop and business plans
- 1 Henley Street: an application for a new non-illuminated timber fascia sign with a recessed aluminium panel on the listed building (26/02419/ADV, with listed building consent 26/02410/LBC). The application doesn’t say which business it is for.
- Former Poundland, 6–7 Bridge Street: sign drawings show Peacocks and Bonmarché taking the shop. Full story.
- 21 Greenhill Street: a community benefit society wants to turn the listed former charity shop into two small shop units and a flat. Full story.
- The Salmon Tail, Evesham Road: plans to turn the former pub into a shop, four flats and a house. Full story.
- Laburnum Cottages, Grove Road: six homes could be used as holiday lets. Full story.
There were no new alcohol or entertainment licence applications in the town this week. Every planning application near you is on our Planning near me map, and tomorrow’s Planning this week column covers the rest of the latest list.
Food businesses
- Noah’s Nook, 4–5 Meer Street: the independent café, which has a children’s play area, is now in our map of every restaurant, café and pub in Stratford. It was given a food hygiene rating of 5 on 25 August.
- 2 Evesham Place: Evesham Place Stores has left the Food Standards Agency register this week. A business called Dave’s Pizza is registered at the same address and is waiting for its first inspection.
- 51 Waterside: a new registration for Ashbourne Day Nurseries, a nursery group, at this address; its own website doesn’t list a Stratford nursery yet.
The other ten new registrations across the district this week have no public premises in the town (mobile caterers, home-based food businesses and a school kitchen in Alcester), so we don’t list them. You can check any business’s score with our food hygiene finder. Last week’s edition is here.
