Indoor favourites in town

February is cold and often wet, so these are the safe bets. Prices and opening times are in our things to do with kids guide.

  • Stratford Butterfly Farm on Swan’s Nest Lane: a warm tropical glasshouse full of butterflies. Under-3s go free. The farm says mornings are busiest.
  • The MAD Museum on Henley Street: moving machines and automata. It can’t take pushchairs when it’s busy, so bring a carrier.
  • Tudor World on Sheep Street: a walk-through museum of Tudor life. Under-5s go free.
  • Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, with the free Family Trail for ages 4+. CV37 residents go free all year with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’s Residents Go Free ticket.
  • The RSC: The Play’s the Thing exhibition in the Swan Theatre is free, and the RSC usually runs family workshops and drop-in activities in the school holidays.

Free things to do

  • The Rec playground by the river, refurbished in 2026 with new inclusive equipment and a sensory play area.
  • Stratford Library on Henley Street: free Rhyme Time, Story Stomp and Saturday Lego Club sessions, and a Family Film Club.
  • A walk or scooter ride along the Stratford Greenway or the river.

Swimming and soft play

Stratford Leisure Centre on Bridgeway has two pools with family swim sessions and a soft play area for children up to 8. Check Everyone Active’s timetable for half-term sessions.

Days out within 40 minutes

The British Motor Museum at Gaydon, Warwick Castle, Compton Verney, Charlecote Park and the Cotswold Farm Park often run half-term events. Our kids guide has driving times and what each one is like, and we’ll list their February 2027 events here once they’re announced.

Free holiday activities and lunches

Children on benefits-related free school meals can get free activities and a healthy lunch in the school holidays through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme. See our HAF guide.
