Harry Potter star hosts exclusive Stratford-upon-Avon evening to help Holy Trinity

Stratford-upon-Avon’s own screen legend is trading in his Hogwarts broom for a microphone this January to support a vital local cause.
In a delightful twist of irony, David Bradley—best known to millions as the grumpy, magic-loathing caretaker Argus Filch in the Harry Potter franchise—is stepping up to bring a touch of magic to Holy Trinity Church.
The BAFTA-winning actor and long-time Stratford resident will headline an intimate evening of entertainment on Saturday, 24th January. The event is dedicated to raising urgent funds to replace the church’s failing sound system.

An Evening of “Shameless Name Dropping”
While his on-screen characters are often villains or curmudgeons (fans of Game of Thrones will certainly remember him as the infamous Walder Frey), the real David Bradley is a celebrated pillar of the local community.
Promising an evening far livelier than a detention in the dungeons, Bradley has curated a show featuring:
- Music and Song: A rare chance to see the musical side of the celebrated character actor.
- Magic: A nod to his wizarding world past.
- Stories from the Set: Bradley describes the agenda as including “shameless name dropping.” With a career spanning the Royal Shakespeare Company, Doctor Who, Broadchurch, and Hot Fuzz, he has no shortage of anecdotes involving Britain’s biggest stars.
Preserving the Voice of Shakespeare’s Church
The fundraiser comes at a critical time for Holy Trinity. As the burial place of William Shakespeare and a bustling parish church, clear audio is essential for services, concerts, and the thousands of tourists who visit annually. The current ageing sound system is in dire need of an upgrade, and Bradley has generously stepped in to help bridge the funding gap.
This is a unique opportunity for Stratford residents to enjoy a drink at the bar, hear behind-the-scenes Hollywood gossip, and support one of the town’s most historic buildings.
