New two-storey Scout hut proposed for Stratford-upon-Avon town centre

A new two-storey Scout hut could be built in Stratford under plans to replace the current headquarters of the 1st Stratford-upon-Avon Scout Group.
The application (ref 25/02675/FUL) has been submitted for the Scout Headquarters on New Broad Street, CV37 6HW. It seeks permission to demolish the existing premises and construct a new, larger building on the same site.
The proposal is described simply as:
“Demolition and replacement two-storey scout hut premises.”
While the planning notice doesn’t go into interior details, a new two-storey building would typically allow for more flexible activity rooms, improved storage and potentially better accessibility and safeguarding measures compared with older building that has grown tired over time.
The New Broad Street base is home to a long-running Scout group serving young people from across Stratford. For many families, it’s a familiar landmark just a short walk from the town centre.
If approved, the redevelopment would represent a significant investment in youth provision locally, updating facilities to meet modern standards while keeping the group in its established location.
The application is now live with Stratford-on-Avon District Council, and local residents, parents and anyone with an interest in the future of the group can submit comments online by searching for reference 25/02675/FUL on the council’s planning pages.
